June 19 - Yarmouth Boys 6, Cape Elizabeth 7: It took an awesome defensive effort, but Cape Elizabeth ended Yarmouth´s two-year reign as the Class B boys´ lacrosse state champion Saturday. Tom Foden, who was nursing a sore shoulder, scored three goals as the Capers eked out a 7-6 victory against the Clippers at Fitzpatrick Stadium to claim their first state title in nine years. June 16 - Yarmouth Boys 17, St. Dom's 5: YARMOUTH — Evan Henry had six goals and two assists, and Steven Petrovek added four goals and one assist as top-seeded Yarmouth won the Eastern Class B boys´ lacrosse championship with a 17-5 victory over No. 2 St. Dominic Wednesday. (read more)
June 16 - Yarmouth Girls 5, NYA 9: YARMOUTH — The word or phrase that gets shouted in unison after a pregame huddle is a little different for the North Yarmouth Academy girls´ lacrosse team. (read more)
June 12 - Yarmouth Boys 17, NYA 7: Nine players scored for top-ranked Yarmouth on Saturday night as it advanced to the Eastern Class B schoolboy lacrosse championship game with a 17-7 victory against fourth-ranked North Yarmouth Academy. Yarmouth (12-1) will be home for the final Wednesday against St. Dominic of Auburn. (Read more) Game Photos
June 12 - Yarmouth Girls 22, Gardiner 4: Nalini Robbins scored five goals and Danielle Torres added three for the second-seeded Clippers (10-3), who took a 12-0 lead against the third-ranked Tigers (8-5) in an Eastern Class B semifinal at Yarmouth. Becca Bell and Brenna Bialek added four goals and three assists each. Brooke Davis scored twice for Gardiner.
June 4 - Yarmouth Boys 17, Greely 4: Evan Henry and Colby Shields scored four goals each as the Clippers (11-1) downed Greely (5-6) at Yarmouth. Steve Petrovek added three goals and two assists for the Clippers, who opened a 12-0 lead in the first half. Henry also had two assists and Shields provided one. Austin Spencer scored twice for the Rangers.
May 28 - Yarmouth Boys 7, Cape Elizabeth 10: CAPE ELIZABETH — All Cape Elizabeth boys´ lacrosse Coach Ben Raymond wanted was for his team to play better in the second half Friday night. The Capers did even better than that. Recovering from an early five-goal deficit, Cape scored nine goals during the final 24 minutes to rally to a 10-7 win against previously unbeaten Yarmouth in a Class B boys´ lacrosse game. May 24 - Yarmouth Girls 9, Waynflete 12: Beware Class B girls' lacrosse: The Waynflete Flyers have that championship look once again. Monday afternoon on the turf at Yarmouth High, playing against a team seeking to avenge a loss from earlier this spring, the Flyers came out sizzling, grabbed a 5-0 lead and never looked back. May 22 - Yarmouth Girls 19, Falmouth 10: For the first 20 minutes of Saturday morning's contest, the Falmouth girls' lacrosse team had the host Yarmouth Clippers right where the Yachtsmen wanted them, on their heels and behind on the scoreboard. (Read more) Game Photos
May 21 - Yarmouth Boys 8, Falmouth 6: Steve Petrovek and Evan Henry scored in the final two minutes to help Yarmouth withstand its toughest challenge of the boys´ lacrosse season Friday night. The Clippers pulled out an 8-6 victory against Falmouth in a matchup between the state´s top two Class B teams. (Read more)
May 19 - Yarmouth Girls 11, NYA 6: Molly Curry had five goals and three assists to lead the visiting Clippers (7-2) over the Panthers (6-3) at Yarmouth. Danielle Torres contributed three goals and Carlie Woodson made six saves for Yarmouth. Lilly Wellenbach led NYA with two goals.
May 18 - Yarmouth Boys 18, NYA 1: Evan Henry scored eight goals to lead the Clippers (8-0) to a 12-0 halftime lead against the Panthers (4-4) at Yarmouth. Steven Petrovek added two goals and five assists, and Sam Torres and Matt Murphy each chipped in with two goals. Dylan Seeley scored for NYA.
May 15 - Yarmouth Boys 13, Cheverus 2: Evan Henry scored four goals, and Steven Petrovek added a goal and three assists to pace the Clippers (7-0) past the Stags (5-4) at Portland. Evan Jendrasko and Stefano Caiazzo scored, and Sean Oddy finished with 21 saves for Cheverus.
May 15 - Yarmouth Girls 16, Marshwood 5: Danielle Torres scored five goals to lead the Clippers (6-2) past the Hawks (3-5) at South Berwick. Rebecca Bell added two goals and an assist for Yarmouth, which scored the first 10 goals. Natasha Chabot had three goals and an assist for Marshwood.
May 11 - Yarmouth Girls 13, Freeport 6: Molly Curry scored five goals, and Devin Simsarian and Danielle Torres each had four to lead Yarmouth (5-2) past the Falcons (2-5) at Freeport. Shelby Colvin had three goals for the Falcons.
May 11 - Yarmouth Boys 14, Waynflete 2: Steven Petrovek scored six goals to lead the Clippers (7-0) past Waynflete (3-3) at Yarmouth. Petrovek also had an assist. Sam Torres and Colby Shields added two goals each for Yarmouth. Miles Bevan scored both goals for Waynflete.
May 8 - Yarmouth boys have no trouble with Brunswick in crossover battle. by Michael Hoffer. Despite losing several standouts to graduation and having to play a challenging schedule in the first half of the 2010 season, the two-time defending Class B state champion Yarmouth Clippers boys' lacrosse team continues to have no peer. The Clippers, who have already downed top rivals Cape Elizabeth, Falmouth and North Yarmouth Academy, welcomed old friend Brunswick to town Saturday afternoon for a rare crossover matchup. . Entering Saturday morning's rainy showdown at perennial power Yarmouth, the Scarborough girls' lacrosse team knew it was pretty good. Now, the Red Storm have to feel invincible. After a solid 50-minute effort in which they never trailed, the Red Storm beat the Clippers for the first time, 13-9, thanks to clutch second half goalkeeping from senior Marina Sterrer and a balanced scoring attack, improving to 4-0 on the season while handing Yarmouth (4-2) its second successive loss (read more)

May 6 - Yarmouth Girls 6, Waynflete 8: Morgan Woodhouse scored four goals, including a three-goal run in the second half, as Waynflete (3-1) held off Yarmouth (4-1) at Portland. The Flyers led 4-3 at halftime but the Clippers came back to make it 5-5 with 15 minutes left. Woodhouse then scored her three straight. Amy Allen of Waynflete, and Rebecca Verrill and Danielle Torres of Yarmouth all scored twice. Yarmouth goalie Carlie Woodson had 10 saves. Katherine Torrey stopped four shots for the Flyers.

YARMOUTH—They call it the "elephant in the room" and for at least another night, it stayed out of sight. The "it" in this case is awareness of the fact that the powerhouse Yarmouth boys' lacrosse team hasn't lost a game on its turf field since 2002, something the current players are all too aware of. If that's not pressure enough, consider that the program hasn't dropped a contest anywhere in nearly two years. May 3 - Yarmouth Girls 18, Cape 8 - Danielle Torres, Molly Curry and Nalini Robbins each had three goals, and the Clippers (4-0) used a 12-4 surge in the second half to pull away from the Capers (2-2) at Yarmouth. Torres also had four assists, and Curry assisted on three goals. Devin Simsarian contributed two goals and two assists. Talley Perkins scored three goals for Cape Elizabeth.
April 30 - Yarmouth Girls 11, Greely 7 - Danielle Torres scored four goals and Devin Simsarian added three as the Clippers (3-0) defeated the Rangers (0-2) at Cumberland. Kelly Burrell had four goals, and Melanie Howland chipped two goals and an assist for Greely, which led 5-4 at halftime.

April 28 - Yarmouth lax teams ace early tests; NYA girls avenge state game loss

The season is still in its veritable infancy, but local lacrosse fans have already been treated to several delicious showdowns in recent days. There were four compelling battles in a six-day span, two each on the boys' and girls' sides, that simply reinforced that the best lacrosse in the state continues to be played in our backyard. April 27 - Yarmouth Boys 17, York 3: Steven Petrovek had three goals and two assists, Evan Henry added two goals and two assists, and Colby Shields scored twice for the Clippers (2-0) against the Wildcats (0-2) at York. Dodge Tucker had eight saves for York.
April 16 - Yarmouth Boys 11, NYA 5: Steven Petrovek had three goals and an assist, and Colby Shields and Nick Ronan each scored twice as Yarmouth opened with an 11-5 win over visiting North Yarmouth Academy. Forrest Milburn scored two goals for the Panthers. The Clippers led 7-1 at the half.
April 15 - Yarmouth Girls 13, York 11: Danielle Torres had seven goals for the Clippers at York. Molly Curry and Maria Lafer each added two goals for Yarmouth. Emily Garry had five goals, and Mackie Hill and Ali Graziano had two apiece for York. Carly Woodson made nine saves for the win. Ashley Neal stopped 13 shots for York.
